March 2007
Hey everyone,
it’s March - yippee!!! Not only is it my birthday on the 8th, but days are getting longer and it’s starting to feel like spring.
I’m going to really try to get a few more recipes up on the site this month. I’ve just added a recipe for a plain white loaf. Have a go at that and let me know how you’re getting on. The shaping of the loaf is a bit tricky to describe, so I’ll take some pictures next time I’ll make the loaf so you can see what I’m on about.
I’m currently working on a wedding cake for my friend. I did the design last week and baked the cakes (2 tiers) today. The kitchen smelled wonderfully of rich fruit cake all day. Thinking about it, with the wedding season coming up, I’ll publish the recipe over the next few days. It’s a classic English rich fruit cake and you can use it for any celebration cake. I’ll let you know how I get on with the wedding cake. The wedding isn’t until May, so we’ve got a little while yet.
I’m also trying a new recipe for a rye sourdough starter and will keep you posted on how is turns out. It sounds easy enough. If it works, I’ll be posting the recipe here shortly.
Have a look at the book reviews I’ve just posted. Everything I review will be available to buy through Amazon.co.uk. Have a look at my brand-new aStore (Amazon Associate store). I’ve put some of my favourite baking books up and some cool equipment.
Have a lovely March everyone and keep baking!
